I was driving along the highway and I noticed a sign that said public water access. Hmmm, this is quite interesting because I’ve driven on this road several times and I never noticed it before. Oh, but wait, yes I have! It all came back to me all of sudden just like a flashback. I remembered saying “I have to stop the next time I see this sign, even if I have to turn around”. So, indeed I turn around after seeing the sign and slowly creep up the road very carefully.

I pass by a couple of houses and I’m thinking to myself. Am I imagining things because it doesn’t look as if any type of water access will be around this area. As soon as I thought this, I drive pass a disc golf area and immediately see a few parked RV’s. After passing the RV’s, I then see some people walking with kayak’s towards a beautiful river. At this point I am really excited!

The people walking with kayaks are beyond friendly and greet my mom and I. It turns out they are out there on a school field trip! I said man this is a great field trip for students. We keep walking and talking then BAM! There are two literal tree houses with students all around them. The adults allowed us to take a peek inside of the treehouses and my mom and I were still in awe of amazement.

So, that is why I am sharing this North Carolina gem with everyone. Not only does this location have tree houses but it is considered a campground.
