Outside of Blues Alley Jazz

I have to admit that I absolutely love exploring Washington, DC! This time around (which is quite often), I decided to spend some leisure time at Blues Alley Jazz, Swingers and Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar over the weekend. The first night I arrived in Washington, DC, my very best friend and I went to listen to some amazing jazz at Blues Alley Jazz. Let me tell you a little bit about Blues Alley. It was founded in 1965 and is also considered the nation’s oldest continuing jazz supper club. The club has had several internationally known jazz musician’s like Nancy Wilson, Dizzy Gillespie and Charlie Byrd to name a few.

I love the fact the club is located in historic Georgetown in an 18th century red brick carriage house. It is also opened seven days a week and serving up an authentic Creole as well as seafood cuisines. Try to come early because it is on a first come first serve basis as far as seating. Of course, we sat in the front because we wanted to be front and center! Carol Riddick and Gerald Veasley showed up and showed out for an unforgettable performance.

After the wonderful show, we were very hungry so we ate at Clyde’s. The atmosphere and food were pretty good at Clyde’s and I would definitely recommend going there. By Saturday evening, we were on our way to Cuba Libre Restaurant & Rum Bar located in the City Center area. Not only do I enjoy the food here but I’ve actually have never been disappointed and most times we opt to sit outside to enjoy the views.

Hence, the delicious meal and drinks we found ourselves taking the metro to Dupont Circle for a 9-hole game of putt-putt at Swingers! I must admit that I craved for some type of snacks. So, I ended up getting a fish sandwich and brussel sprouts and it was surprisingly good! Unfortunately, I loss in the game of putt-putt, and man that was a sad day but not really lol.

We truly had a blast in our nation’s capital and I encourage you to spend a weekend in Washington, DC for a weekend. Until next time remember to stay fit!
