Spanish Steps, Rome Italy/ Scalinata di Trinità dei Monti
There I am, in all that pink and red on the bottom of the beautiful Spanish Steps in Rome, Italy. I was so excited to be in Rome, Italy because I had always imagined myself being there, since I was a little girl. From watching all of the old black and white Hollywood movies, that I was so fascinated with. I finally made it, and the experience will last for a lifetime!
Let’s get into a little history behind the Spanish Steps, shall we. The Spanish Steps is a staircase consisting of one hundred and thirty-five steps, which are in Rome’s Piazza di Spagna. I have to tell you all, that these steps are steep and slopy and positioned between the church Trinita dei Monti and the plaza. The steps were built between the years of 1723 and 1725 and named after the Bourbon Spanish Embassy to the Holy See within the plaza.
As you can see from the picture above, it is quite the gathering place for everyone! For some reason these steps had a very romantic feel, and I don’t know if it was because it has been featured in movies or what. It also has a type of underlying beauty within these steps, that I just can’t describe. Maybe it is because the beautiful actress Katherine Hepburn ate her gelato on these very steps, on the movie Roman Holiday.
