Hey y’all! As you know I absolutely love doing hiking trails with friends, family and Charlie my dog! So, I’ve done the Mount Hollywood Hiking Trail several times and I must say I can’t ever get enough of it. Let me tell you a bit about the trail.
It is 3 miles total in distance of a loop, with an elevation gain of 498 feet. For most people it will take anywhere from 1.5 to 2 hours to complete the hike. As far as the level of the hike, I would considerate it moderate. The trail is also dog friendly, and you will awe at the views of downtown LA, the Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood sign. The last time we were there we saw a coyote!
You can get to this hike by starting from the Griffith Observatory parking lot. Parking is free from this parking lot Monday through Friday before 12noon. From 12noon to 10pm there is a parking fee. Saturday through Sunday is free up until 10am to 10pm. Parking is crazy during the weekends, so I would highly recommend taking a bus, walk, hike, bike or get a rideshare to get here. If you do park, I think it is something like $10 dollars an hour.
The Los Angeles Department of Transportation (LADOT) operates daily low-cost DASH Observatory/Los Feliz public bus service from the Vermont/Sunset Metro Red Line station to the Observatory. The DASH Observatory/Los Feliz service operates daily from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Before we started the hike, in front of the Griffith Observatory we took some pictures with the wing’s statue. If you look behind me in this picture you can also see the Hollywood sign.

As you can see, we are already off the task at hand but hey what can I say lol. You will literally see an actual blue street sign that reads “Mt Hollywood Hiking Trail” and that is where the trail begins!

I don’t know if you all know this, but Hollywood used to be called Hollywoodland. You will see this sign at the beginning of the trail before you get to the Berlin Forest.

We took more pictures going back down the trail this time. We love the Captain’s Roost portion of the trail but this time we wanted different views of it. It is basically all those palm trees you see in the background on the top of our heads!

We really enjoyed taking pictures from The Summit.

Great Views of downtown LA & The Griffith Observatory from this picture!
There is also kind of like this bridge/wall thing happening when you do the trail. It is towards the beginning of the trail. I talked my friends into taking pictures of me on it!

We had so much fun. Stay fit and God bless!
