Spiritually Fit is a Necessity in Fitness & Life

by, Beth Foster

At the end of most of my posts and YouTube videos, my ending salutation is usually saying “Stay Fit”. When an individual is fit in my opinion, is when they are stable spiritually, mentally, physically and emotionally. We have to take care of our mind, body and souls! I have participated and currently participate in a weekly night class at church called “Celebrate Recovery”. CR is a Christ-centered recovery program. Unlike the traditional 12 step program, CR implements biblical principles such as healing, loving and educating all people who are going through hurt.

I know I will have to be in CR for the remainder of my life but that is okay, because I will be receiving the support and love in a safe and Christ centered environment. Whatever hang-ups, hurts or habits anyone has this program is great and a continuous lifetime journey. The most important thing that I have learned is that I have to fully trust God in order to heal, who is essentially the only one that can help me understand myself.

When you attend the class, you receive a free copy of the Prayer of Serenity, and I say this prayer every single morning! I have it on my wall so that I won’t forget to say it in the mornings! Below is a copy of the prayer:

The Serenity Prayer

God grant me the serenity
to accept the things I cannot change;
courage to change the things I can;
and wisdom to know the difference.
Living one day at a time;
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardships as the pathway to peace;
Taking, as He did, this sinful world
as it is, not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make all things right
if I surrender to His Will;
That I may be reasonably happy in this life
and supremely happy with Him
Forever in the next.
Amen.

Stay Fit & God Bless!
